We had an amazing day in Boston yesterday! Karisti is in town from London for a conference, so we met her and Karen for lunch and ice cream. It was so great to see them both! We hadn't seen Karisti since she was here for our wedding, so it was nice to squeeze in another quick visit while she is here.
Josh Ritter has written a new book, Bright's Passage, and he was doing a reading/performance at the Coolidge Theater. If we bought the book ahead of time, we got free tickets to the reading, so Karen, Bob and I went to hear Josh sing and read. It was a tiny, intimate venue and we were only about 6 rows from the stage. He read passages from his beautiful book and played some of his songs that fit in so well. It was amazing!!
Here is he singing Girl In The War. It was so beautiful!!
After the reading/performance there was a book signing at the bookstore across the street from the theater. We waited in line for an hour and a half, but it was completely worth it! Josh was beyond gracious and friendly and took time to talk to and hug every single person who came to the signing (which is why it took so long to actually get to him). When we finally got to him, Bob thanked him for reading Bob's dedication to me at the Valentine's Day show we went to (you can read my post about it here) and Karen and I told him how we had heard him for the first time at Quasimodo, a tiny club in Berlin, in 2006. We were the only Americans in the audience and we actually got to talk to Josh after the concert. He is still as friendly and appreciative of his fans now as he was back then.
Josh was generous enough to sign all our books and I particularly love his message in Bob's book. His song Good Man is one of our favorites! You can see a video of him singing it here.

Birthday Roses
I have truly married the best man in the world! My husband had these beautiful flowers delivered to me at school today for my birthday AND... there are 8 of them for the 8 months we've been married. He is such a sweet, romantic man and I am so lucky to be able to spend every day with him. Thank you Baby!

Washington, DC
I spent my Memorial Day weekend in Washington, DC where my band had been invited to march in the National Memorial Day Parade. We spent the entire year fundraising for the trip and the kids were beyond excited to go on the trip. It was BLAZING hot in DC last weekend, but we survived. The parade was a great experience and we had a good time checking out the sites in DC.

We spent our last morning in DC at Arlington National Cemetery. It was super hot, but still very beautiful.
