Vacation, Finally

We made it! We are finally on vacation!!! The last few weeks at school have been absolutely hellish - very busy and filled with lots of stress and an overwhelming amount of work. I've been counting down the days until vacation and it is finally here! Plus we had a snow day on Friday, so we got an extra day of vacation! I know everyone else is annoyed with the snow days and doesn't want to be in school all summer, but I desperately needed the snow day - I'm very thankful for every one this year.

Bob and I are looking forward to a week of relaxing. For the first time since we've been together, we're not traveling during our vacation. March is insanely busy for both of us at school, so we really need to rest up to be ready for it. Once we get back to school, we won't have a free second, let alone a free day or evening, until April. So we're spending some quality time at home - taking naps, watching movies, cooking, and just not being at work. I need to go into school for a couple of days this week, plus my band is playing at the boys basketball game on Tuesday night, so I have to go in for that, but I'm hoping to get all of my school work done at the beginning of the week so we can enjoy the rest of the week.

Hooray for vacation week - we're so glad you finally are here!!!

The Curse

We were driving home this afternoon, listening to NPR, as usual, and we suddenly heard Josh Ritter on Studio 360! We were nearly home, so we ended up sitting in the car in our driveway for 10 minutes, listening to this amazing interview with him. The entire interview is below.

I've also included the video of Josh singing "The Curse". If you listen to the interview, you'll hear him tell the story of this song and what it is about. We've heard him play the song in concert, but we never knew what it was about. We listened to the song today with new ears and were blown away by the intensity of the lyrics. Listen to the interview above, then listen closely to the lyrics and you'll be blown away too. He is an amazing storyteller!

My Valentine

I don't have a recent picture of us that I love, so instead here is one of my favorite pictures from our wedding. My valentine was very romantic this year... it started out with the Josh Ritter concert we went to on Friday night in Boston. A few months ago, Josh Ritter put an announcement on his website that he was taking dedications that might end up being read his Valentine's weekend concert. I noticed it and actually thought of doing it for Bob, but then figured the chances of it actually getting read at the concert were pretty slim. Fast forward to Friday night when we were sitting at the House of Blues, listening to a great concert. Josh Ritter started doing the dedications - he was pulling them out of a hat and reading them off. Bob turned to me and told me that he had done one for me! He was worried it might not get read, but he promised he would tell me what it said if we didn't hear it. Josh Ritter read through maybe 10-12 messages, then continued playing, but Bob's message wasn't one of the them. Then about an hour later he read some more and... he read Bob's message!! We were both so excited when we heard "To my wife Michelle from Bob..."! It was a very sweet message about how I have Bob's heart and life in my hands and he loves me so much. We were so busy kissing and being excited that we almost missed Josh Ritter's reaction to Bob's message. He thought it was so sweet that he had the whole audience applaud for it!! It was pretty amazing! And my Valentine surprises continued with pink roses delivered to me at school today!! I am a very lucky girl to be married to such an amazing man. Thank you for a wonderful Valentines Day my love!!
